You don't need to be rich to get divorced, but you do need to be smart. Welcome back to the secret podcast. This one is big because today we're talking about the part of divorce that keeps most women stuck money. I'm Taylor wins divorce coach, divorce attorney, and a woman who has rebuilt her entire life post divorce, not once, but twice. I know how scary it feels to look at your future and wonder where will I live? How will I afford this? Will I be okay on my own?
So let's cut through the fear and talk about how to get financially smart, even if things feel uncertain right now. Let's start with the question most women Google in secret at 2 a.m. Can I even afford to get divorced? Here's the truth. You don't need a pile of cash, but you do need a plan. Start with these questions. Do I know what's in our accounts? Do I have access to funds or income on my own? Could I open a separate bank account safely and legally?
right now? Do I know what our monthly expenses are and what mine would be alone? You don't even need every answer yet. But if you don't know the basics of your financial life, it is time to find out. Financial knowledge equals power. Always. One of the biggest fears I hear is, but where will I go? Or how will I keep the house? Here's the hard truth. You might not keep the house, but that doesn't mean you're doomed.
What you need to focus on is sustainability. Can I afford this place long-term without help? Am I willing to take on the responsibility of maintenance, taxes, and refinancing? What are my backup plans, even short-term ones? Some women stay too long just to keep the house and lose so much more in the process. Peace, clarity, their sense of self. You can make a home somewhere else. You can create stability again. I've helped women do it. I've done it.
It's possible and sometimes it's better. This is where most people spiral. They think they need to solve everything right now. But what you actually need is a roadmap. Here's what I help my clients do inside my coaching program. We create a pre and post divorce budget. We list your joint and separate assets and debts. We talk about support options, both legal like spousal support or child support and personal support like friends, family, community.

support you pay for like a therapist or a coach. And we figure out how to move from fear to strategy. Because when you know your numbers, your options and your goals, you start making decisions like the CEO of your life, not like someone who's desperate to escape and willing to settle for breadcrumbs. If money is the thing keeping you stuck, let's fix that. Inside my coaching program, we walk you through a full financial clarity process so you know exactly where you stand.
what to ask for and how to plan for the life you want after divorce. No guessing, no wishful thinking, just the real tools I use with women every day to take back control. You can apply or book a clarity call through the link in the show notes. That's the end of episode five, but it's not the end of your story. There's one more episode coming and it's a big one. We're going to talk about what you deserve, even if you've never let yourself want it before.
The future isn't just about surviving divorce. It's about building something better. See you there.
